Experience different cultures, artistically speaking, as we explore the fascinating process of resist inks and dyes. Students will learn various resist techniques such as shibori and batik, and then incorporate these papers into fabulous books. "Resistance (to this class) is Futile."

This class will explore a variety of Japanese papermaking and surface design techniques. Students will make paper using Eastern pulps and construct their own moulds and deckles. Students will learn Oshibana, an inlaid flower technique and Shibori, (similar to tie-dying). We will use these papers to create books the last day of class. See samples at the Fine Line.
